WE FINALLY KNOW THE HEIGHTS.
I’m glad this is getting traction again
(can’t believe i’m shorter than Red Darrow)

RED RISING ITA BAG!
I have more Red Rising pins/paraphernalia in storage at home but this is what I’ve put together with what I have at the moment. so bloodydamn stoked for Pierce’s book tour later this month!!!
If you are wondering why there is a lack of Sevro content lately in the Red Rising series, look no further than the fandom who loves him shallowly:
No LB spoilers, no worries
We could have had Sevro's point of view, Pierce even tried it for a bit. Anyway, congrats! TGR only audiobook and no Sevro pov. If it ends up a mess, don't @ Pierce Brown.
I'm a little confused as to what you mean with "shallowly" 😅
Like, I am really not trying to be a dick, just genuinely confused 😂 (it's the dumb ass juice I drink on the daily)
Because the way I interpreted that is, that yes, a lot of people love Sevro. And of course different people have different interpretations of him, so satisfying everyone is impossible, thus, writing Sevro has becoming kind of straining, since the thought of 'will the readers like this' is always kind of in the back of his mind?
Now of course, people that complain to the author (or go even further) because a character they like didn't act the way they expected them to act are absolute trash. There is no question there, but I don't think that people who prefer Sevro's comedic relief moments ove rhis serious moments aren't necessarily loving him shallowly.
(even though I personally can't understand how "I am Ares. I am a murder too and what do we do with murderers!" is not in everyone's top three sevro moments 😂😂😂)
[I hope I don't sound super 'pressed' about this. I'm just at work and have to type this out in between customers and phone calls so I might sound more serious than I am 😂]
I wrote a long ass post responding to this, trying my very best not to sound 'pissed', as you put it.
Pierce Brown wrote Darrow for about 10 years now. Interpretations of him are various. Not once has Pierce Brown scrapped a whole first draft to avoid writing his pov. But he did for Sevro, because the pressure was too much.
Now, you might see it as a good thing, it's not. It's not good to lose the joy of writing a character because you got tired of what the fandom says you can and cannot do to their beloved. Pierce is open to his fandom, but his fandom seems singularly obssessed with two things - hating the other VAs for the audiobook and dictating about Sevro.
Did I go to him about any of the above? Nope. Did you? I doubt it. But he fell into 'will they like it' trap anyway. So yes, I am 'holding responsible' people who cannot see Sevro beyond his cute comedic relief, cannot see his flaws and mistakes, cannot see his insercurities and depth and roundness as a character, who search for any other character to blame and even scream ooc and keep bothering PB for daring to put him through a plot in Dark Age.
Obviously not all fans fall into the above. Not all interpretations are shallow and not all fans make demands of Pierce Brown for how to write Sevro. But those who did helped suck the joy out of writing him and that is tragic to me.
I wanted a Sevro pov, I wanted him explored, I wanted more Sevro content. I was robbed of it because of the unfair pressure the author was put under. It went beyond 'please don't kill Sevro' a long time ago. It gets old fast, even for a kind person.
Anyway, no. Not the people who prefer light hearted moments with Sevro, but the people who don't see beyond his funny and cute moments. Not all fans.
Ahhh I see.
Okay yes that I can get behind, I genuinely didn't understand what you meant at first.
And no, don't worry, I of course don't think losing passion in /interest for a character or simply not "daring" to write them anymore is a good thing!
I did not mean to make it sound that way.
Honestly I haven't interacted with the Fandom in a while (and if I did only with he same people in form of shit posts) so I didn't even know this was going on.
But yeah, I understand now
We miss you in the fandom, btw, but I hope you are doing well. I am frustrated with the above, but it's still a good place to be in certain spaces.
Sorry to come out harsh, I understand that you were not in the known, I just could not express myself better. Sorry for that.
After four long years, Light Bringer is finally upon us, so I figured it was time to make a fresh post to promo the discord server I’m a mod for:
Howler Lair is a chill, friendly, fairly small Red Rising community. Please use the invite link below to join.
Feel free to talk about whatever! Or don’t! All we ask is for a brief intro so we know you’re a real person, and something to call you. Don’t ever feel bad for lurking, or suddenly jumping in to say something if you haven’t for awhile. I promise it is welcome.
We are also queer friendly. And we like to keep this server feeling small because larger Red Rising groups are intimidating. The vast majority of current membership are all tumblrinas. Introvert central.
All I ask is you please follow the short list of rules we have (basically: be excellent to each other). Especially please follow our Light Bringer spoilers policy (see pinned posts in the relevant channel). And keep spoilers for the other books in the proper channels for the handful of people reading it for the first time. Otherwise, go nuts.
Hope to see you there!
